Great Mexican food in a quiet spot in downtown Pleasanton. We came in on a Sunday evening and enjoyed enchiladas, rice and beans. The enchiladas were full of juicy, tender chicken and delicious. Great little Mexican restaurant right off Main Street. Delicious street tacos! I had the Al pastor and Carne Asada tacos. They were both amazing and priced right. They have a chips and salsa bar and all the salsa was great. It was a quick and easy option! The wife loved the horchata. read more

Reading all the reviews I thought this would be a great taqueria! When I received my food I was dissatisfied. My burrito just came with ride beans and chicken (which didn't even taste seasoned) in a tortilla for $9. The chips and salsa were free which was awesome! But for the price you pay for the food you get was not as awesome. I wouldn't recommend anyone going here. read more

Pros: 1. Good quality grilled veggie burrito. Flavors in the burrito were to my liking, veggie grilled perfectly and guacamole was good too. Also the burrito was too huge a portion. Got back 40percent of burrito since cannot eat this burrito in one seating even when super hungry. 2. Clean and hygienic since chips are stored inside a covered container and salsa is in the refrigerator unlike some mexican places which leave chips and salsa in the open for hours. 3. Outdoor and indoor seating option. Outdoor seating is perfect for those sunny days when you feel like basking in the warmth of the day enjoying mexican food. 4. Across the street from primrose bakery whose desserts i luvv. Makes for the perfect place to have food and satisfy my sweet cravings across the street at primrose bakery. Service is always as efficient and friendly and the patio seating still very nice, but we found the food (super burrito) less tasty, just average in fact. Covina Mexico restaurant was a good find in Pleasanton CA. It is small place and busy at noon. A good sign. Me and my brother had each a beef burrito, wet, with guacamole & sour cream and a soda. They were larger than we was looking for. I took out half for later. The Hispanic casher & servers were pleasant. They spoke English no problem. I would recommend and will return again. read more

This place opened up yesterday, and our theater company was looking for a place where we can grab a bite and talk some business. The place was very ncie and comfortable, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious. The location in downtown Pleasanton is nice as it isn't on the main street so there isn't tons of noise happening outside, it was a nice and quiet place to enjoy our food. I'm definitely going to make it a point to come back here more often. read more

I haven't been here since the new owners and the food is authentic, good and definitely worth putting on our list as a mainstay. My wife and I just stopped by after coming down from Woodland- where the Mexican food was exceptional- and she liked this place even better. I ended up getting the carne asada burrito. they made it super fast. literally it came out in 2 minutes. staff was nice, burrito was pretty good. you know mexican food can never really be excellent but it can never be bad either. this place gets a 4 out of 5. next time, im getting the crunch wrap for sure!!! read more

It's pretty basic, as taquerias will go. I only eat tacos at these kind of places. The meat was good quality. No gristle or mystery bits. Carnitas was good mix of crispy and moist. It needed salt, but its probably best they leave that to the individual anyway. Great chips! Salsa again was very basic. Almost no cilantro or onion, but it was spicy, which I like. This review has been a LONG time coming, but I finally took the time to sign up on Yelp, so here goes! Hands down, best Taqueria we have found in the East Bay. My wife and I, and are 4 children eat here at least once a week, and we have yet to find anything on the menu that isnt amazing. The steak anything (burrito, tacos, crunch wrap, etc) is my personal favorite, while my wife prefers the chicken nachos. The kids love the quesidillas, and the rice and beans. Excellent salsa bar with some relatively spicy options to choose from. Nice outdoor dining area as well. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, just an all around good spot. But for downtown Pleasanton? It's valiant effort! I came here with my mom and grandparents for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. I got a couple tacos: one carne asada and one chicken (definitely prefer the carne asada), my mom got a wet enchilada, and my grandparents shared a quesadilla. They each seemed to enjoy their's very much. The place is cute with the outdoor patio seating. The owners and employees that work there are extremely nice and accomodating. If I was up for a quick mexican bite to eat, you'll find me here. I actually think if they were the type of place that was open until 2 or so (RARE for Pleasanton) on a Friday and Saturday AND advertise it well, they'd have frequent customers come in for a post bar bite to eat. If I am craving Mexican food on the cheaps I now know where to go. The hubs and I had a burrrito, carne asada quesadilla, and a taco place for $21. I don't think this place stands out in the taste category as the food was pretty standard. But it was made fresh to order and wasn't greasy. Also, the owner is very nice. Sorry about the delayed review!! The hubs & I are trying out restaurants we haven't been to in Dublin & Pleasanton, regardless of their Yelp ratings, lately. And Cocina Mexico gets a solid 3 from us. Here's why. The nices: - Super clean restaurant. So clean, I could smell the pinesol on the floor. Love. - The veggie burrito is bigger than my head. The wet burrito is even bigger! - The spicy salsa is truly spicy, even for the desi in me. - The staff is friendly. Tall man behind the counter was pleasant. - Free chips & salsa. The not-so-nices: - The food is average at best. The rice in the burrito was bland. The sauce on the wet burrito tasted like store bought enchilada. - The guac is super mushy, like it was blended. I recommend not doing that. - No dogs allowed on their patio! You're off Main St! - A little expensive compared to Mexican restaurants in the vicinity. It's most definitely better than High Tech Burrito down the street! read more

Outdoor seating on a sunny day...not a bad start. Typical taqueria - nothing fancy, but tasty food. The plate of chicken nachos disappeared very quickly as the family took a time-out to enjoy a snack and the plentiful sunshine last weekend. Salsas were very good and the chicken burrito my teenage son ordered received high marks (he couldn't wait for dinner, so he ate a large burrito at 4 PM.) This place is disgusting. Went there tonight for dinner with my family. Wanted to enjoy the nice evening so we decided to sit outside. OMG, not a clean table to be found, chairs are completely worn out, garbage on the patio. Owner sitting inside, on his computer. The Good: Decent prices. Variety of meats to choose from. All your basic Mexican food items (i.e. taco, burrito, nachos etc) offered. The marinated chicken was flavorful and the guacamole was good. Complimentary chips and salsa bar with some different and tasty salsas. The Bad: Small portions. Received a cup for water yet there was no water tab on the soda machine and the pitcher left out as complimentary water was empty from the time we got there to the time we left. About 1/3 of the chips in my nachos did not have toppings on them. The burrito had about a spoonful of guacamole in it and I think that is an over statement. The Ugly: The restaurant was set up comfortably. Nice furnishings with the tables set far enough apart to not interfere with other patrons space. Outdoor seating offered. My biggest qualm with the aesthetics was on the menu mounted on the wall there was a picture of nachos that showed guacamole as the topping yet the nachos offered did not come with guacamole. I had to paid $.85 extra to get a side. All in all I do not think we will be going back. read more

Their tacos are super good! The meat and tortillas taste super fresh. The portions are a very good size. The meat is not greasy. They are very clean and keep all the Salsas refrigerated. Overall service is pretty good. Their menu is easy to read. Apparently, this is the hangout spot for the high school kids. read more

In short, I prefer Taco Bell over this place. Their crunchwrap sucked. It barely had any stuffing to it and was dry as a dust bowl. The chicken soup had a horrible taste like liquid smoke or an old fireplace, not to mention, barely any chicken. The only thing decent was the dang nachos, and but it's hard to screw up chips with cheese. The place was packed with yuppy families with hella kids and this one dude with his Brady bunch sized family was the loudest, most annoying wanker I've seen to date. It took what seemed like an eternity to get a meal that I could have got in 3 minutes at the local Taco Bell. Taco Bell would have tasted better.... Don't get me wrong, I've really tried to find another taqueria that can hold its own, without much success though. You know a place is great when their food tastes just as good the second day (when you pull it from the fridge and nuke it)! I have been so impressed with this place (over and over) for the past year. The employees are friendly, the establishment is clean, and the food is always spot on! What else do you really need? Best burritos in town! They've perfected the Are you there? Of wrapping a burrito. The meat is top grade, ingredients mixed in a consistent manner and spread out evenly before rolling them up so you don't end up with a bite of only sour cream, followed by a bite of hot salsa and by the time you're at the bottom of the "barrel" you're biting into noting but the uncooked tortilla! Oh and by the way, by the time you're done, your fingers are gummed up with the overflowing guacamole. Theirs are the perfected burritos with nothing oozing out and nothing spilling over.
