Two cheese slices, one with jalapeños.

Great spot, pizza is made with quality ingredients. Our server was kind and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is great for a quick slice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This used to be my favorite pizza joint after bar hopping. Recently though the pizza just doesn't taste as good as I remembered. It must have been pre-Covid since I've been back. I came here after the Sam Smith concert across the street. For me, a good pizza is when I finish the crust.

    How Marcelo's cuts pizza
    Sharon B.

Marcello's has some of the best pizza, but they can't seem to cut a pizza to save their lives. This time half the pizza was cut into four pieces. The other half was two pieces. Previously, the pie sometimes looked like it was cut by someone un hallucinogens. I will continue to get pizza from Marcello's because it is the best but someone needs to help teach teach them how to cut a proper pizza.

Stop here for half cooked mediocre pizza and service with a surly attitude or better yet don't. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nothing about this cruddy little joint is special in a neighborhood filled with great restaurants.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On my first visit I ordered a slice of Neopolitan which was at least edible . On my second visit I was informed that I could not buy just one slice that indeed I must purchase two so being hungry and in a good mood I forked over $ 15.00 for a chunk of bread with sauce and cheese that turned out to be so salty I could barely eat it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also noticed that place appeared none too clean. The floors appeared to something out of a public bathroom in a bus station built around 1908.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Avoid the Noid . Look elsewhere for your carb kicks in the Castro.

There are a lot of places to get pizza by the slice in this area, so I'd look around before going back to Marcello's. The cheese pizza slice was just ok, with none of the melty, gooey cheese effect that I like. Ya know, when you take a bite, and pull the slice away, how you get the strings of cheese from your mouth to the slice? None of that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is nice and clean, and there's a weird effect on the floor by the counter, where it looks worn away, but isn't.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

So the food is really good except for one key thing there was a garlic Cove in my cheese pizza which was really weird. I said that the staff here are very good. They get the food ready very fast and it's nice.

Conveniently located in the heart of the Castro, open 7 days a week and open late (by San Francisco standards). If you want a quick meal without a full restaurant experience, this will do you. But comparing this to NY-style pizza or actual NY pizza will be disappointing, so just be thankful you're not eating 7-Eleven pizza instead. Though stick to the thin slices since the Sicilian slices are horrible and should be avoided at all costs! I was close to giving this place a solid A-OK (3-stars), but that Sicilian slice was a 1-star experience, hence the 2-star average. Cheese Slice: It's $5 for a slice while a similarly sized and much better tasting slices can usually be found in New York City for $3. It's not a bad a slice or anything, it's just not great. It was partially cold, even after they put it in the oven to reheat. And the dough seemed a bit thick for it's style. But there was a decent amount of sauce and cheese. It did the trick for filling me up when I was a little hungry. Pesto Potato Slice: A rare find, but a must try when they do have it stock. Something so hearty about carbs on carbs. I'm normally a red sauce guy, but the pesto mixed with red potato slices is just magical. Plus tons of cheese. Pepperoni Sicilian Slice: Potentially the worst Sicilian slice I've ever had! It seemed like they baked the dough separately, added some sauce and cheese and did a quick re-bake. I strongly suspect this is what they did since under the sauce was a browned bread top. Also, felt overly dry. Like seriously, even frozen pizza is better.

A local Castro staple, this place brings New York-style pizza to SF with speed and flavor. If you're looking for a quick pizza fix or a late-night slice after drinks, Marcello's is the spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is small, with mostly single seats and tables for two. Not ideal for lingering, but perfect if you're on the go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff are friendly and efficient, adding to the charm. Pizza: Marcello's serves pizza by the slice, and you'll have your order in about 2 minutes--ideal for when hunger hits fast. I tried the Pepperoni Slice and the Pesto Mushroom Slice. The Pepperoni Slice was solid overall, though I wished for a bit more pepperoni. The standout here was the red sauce, which was incredibly tasty, with just the right balance of flavor in every bite. The Pesto Mushroom Slice was the real star. Any pesto pizza from Marcello's is a must-try, and this one was no exception. The combination of pesto and mushroom was unique and finger-licking good. Pro tip: These slices sell out quickly, so don't miss your chance. Pair your slice with their homemade ranch--it's so good, it'll have you slam dunking every bite. If you love pizza, Marcello's deserves a spot on your list. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's not a hangout spot, but it's perfect for a quick, satisfying slice, especially if you're craving something late at night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Don't sleep on the pesto slices--and definitely grab some ranch to take it to the next level.

If I was closer to Marcello's, this would be my go-to pizza place We had the regular thin crust and Sicilian option. Regular was exceptional. Their ranch is delicious, as well. Great people watching, great seating

Bland tasting. The cheese, sauce, bread...nothing had any real flavor. Even the parmesan cheese I used barely tasted like anything.

The dressings that it came with which were a bbq sauce and some type of special ranch also were a weird combo, glad it was on the side vs in the salad itself otherwise I'm not sure I would have eaten it. Crispy cauliflower was good but definitely not crispy at all! Probably got softer on delivery but definitely not something that should be advertised as crispy when it's not... Steak was barely flavorful, quite cold even though it was "cooked on the spot". The caramelized onions were cold and nothing out of this world - if anything because they were chilled, they lost a bit of their flavoring. The croutons were nonexistent, I almost had to go back and ask if they could add some until I found 3-4 at the very bottom of my bowl. A lot of greens which was good, good serving there. I got a side of focaccia and that was delicious (do wish they offered to toast it a bit, it'd be that much more yummy!). As for my other visits, same applies - unfortunately it's just an overpriced salad I know I can make better at home. Not to mention 1 of my visits was a pickup order and they completely forgot my dressing on the side. All in all, I am very let down by this place. Dare I say I love and prefer it to be Sweet Green. Bummer, I really was happy to have this in the area.

It's the kind of bowl you order when you want to feel bright and satisfied. Now if you're in the mood for something warm, crunchy, and nutty, the Bangkok Bowl is your girl. The texture, the richness, the cozy vibes -- chef's kiss. It's hearty without being heavy and hits all the comfort-food notes. And can we talk about portions?! These bowls are NO joke. No legitimate phone ordering system needs your CVV read aloud over the phone; that's the kind of information you only enter yourself on a secure, encrypted checkout page. Asking for it verbally is a red flag for how they're handling (or storing) customer payment data. On top of that, the location was too busy for me to just park and order in person instead. The restaurant itself made a great first impression. It was clean, organized, and even had a nice little area set up for social media photos. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the presentation. I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl with Greek chicken. The chicken was dry, and it was obvious the seasoning had been sprinkled on after it was cooked instead of being cooked into the meat. I also ordered the Brussels sprouts and fried cauliflower. The Brussels sprouts looked perfectly crispy, which is exactly how they should have been, but they were soft and soggy instead. To make matters worse, the sauce was packed inside the same container, so the steam made them even soggier while also heating the small plastic sauce container inside. The fried cauliflower was equally disappointing. It looked crispy because of its golden brown color, but there wasn't a bit of crunch. Instead, it was oddly firm, almost al dente, making it feel more undercooked than fried. I also tried the garlic chicken soup, expecting something similar to Avgolemono. Instead, it was a thin, watered down broth with the same dry chicken pieces from the Mediterranean Bowl tossed in. The pita bread served with it was honestly the worst part of the meal and the only thing I threw away. Nothing was completely inedible, but for more than $60 worth of takeout, I expected food that matched the clean, inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. Sadly, this experience fell well short of that, and it's not a place I'll be returning to.

The chicken was juicy and flavorful, the sides were fresh and vibrant, and the rich, slightly fatty rice tied everything together. It struck a great balance between hearty and refreshing, and the portion was filling without feeling heavy. At the price point, it also felt like a great value.
