I don't eat pizza often, but my friend was craving it, so we searched for a place that had vegan, meat and gluten free crusts options. This led us to Two Boots. I got a "V for Vegan" slice, and my friend got a small gluten free pepperoni pizza. I really loved my vegan pizza, and the creativity that went into it: artichokes, onions, red pepper sauce and authentic "cheese tasting" vegan cheese (or maybe I forgot what real cheese tastes like). My friend loved his pizza too. We sprinkled chili pepper flakes on our pizzas which added flavor but not enough spice -- wish they had a bottle of hot sauce for those of us that need to feel a little burn every time we eat. I traveled to NYC recently for a concert and took a lengthy walk through Central Park on the upper-westside. I was looking for someplace to rest and eat and I stopped in for a couple slices at Two Boots, which turned out to be an excellent decision. This place had an excellent selection of pizzas, both regular and specialty, plus Sicilian style slices that looked delicious. (Wishing I had tried the pepperoni!) I ended up having the Meg White special, which was a bunch of white cheeses and garlic, and it was solid. Affordable hole in the wall kind of joint with some good ambience and and atmosphere. I feel bad for not raving about this place since I really wanted to love it. I got their famous bayou beast pizza and some other great monstrosity who's name evades me. The bayou pizza wasn't as amazing as I expected. It definitely had strong seafood flavors like the perfectly cooked shrimp as the famous crawfish. It definitely had the positive ocean taste you'd expect from seafood, but it threw me off once my tongue embraced the cheese and cornmeal? Dough. This spot is vegan heaven! I found out about Two Boots from a NY-based, vegan YouTuber (VeganBodegaCat) who does a NY pizza tour- if you're vegan definitely check out her video. The V for Vegan slice was her #1 slice overall out of about 10 slices so I had to come try this za! I tried two vegan slices and they were both delicious. These slices were creative and loaded with toppings and vegan cheese. The V for Vegan was exceptional, as expected. So many flavors and a myriad of toppings, which is for vegan pizza options. I also got the Vegan Night Tripper, which is topped with a jalapeño pesto. I'm not sure if this slice is always super spicy or I caught them on a day they put an abnormally high amount of jalapeño seeds in the pesto. As a Californian who can usually handle a lot of spice, this was almost too spicy to enjoy/finish. This would have been manageable if there was vegan ranch to help with high spice level. One suggestion is to play around with other vegan cheese options or add less vegan cheese to the vegan pies. NY Pizzeria Suprema and Double Zero make their own vegan cheeses in-house and it makes a huge difference because they taste less fake without any odd, fakey cheese texture. Regardless I can take some of that cheese off so it isn't a dealbreaker. As far as ambiance, this is a bright, eccentric-looking, cartoonish, hole-in-the-wall pizza spot. I almost felt like I was in a Dr. Seuss movie set with the bright colors and eccentric decor. I love the creativity here! Overall, I really appreciate the innovative, flavorful vegan options. It's great to have multiple options at a "normal" pizza spot and to be able to order a slice vs an entire pie. I prefer restaurants that have both vegan-labeled options and non-vegan options under one roof. You must go here if you're a vegan visiting or living in NYC! read more

Been going here for a while, but I'm finally done. It's still a nice product if/when you can get it, but it's run like a complete sh*tshow operation now. Orders are never anywhere close to being ready when they say they will be. Used to be you could expect to wait an extra 5-10 minutes no matter what the estimate said, then that stretched to an additional 15-20 mins, and now we're in 30-35 mins of waiting around territory. Sorry, but I don't think anyone has that much time to waste, especially if you're hungry. Looks like they prioritize pies for walk-in biz, so I guess if you just drop in for a slice or two, you'll be OK. But don't bother trying to get a complete pie from them, pick-up or delivery. There are much more reliable places available in LES, which now seems to average 2 pizzerias per block at this point. You can do better. read more

Stopped by early morning Saturday (technically it was Sunday) when one of my party was in serious need of some alcohol slaying pizza. Two regular cheese slices did the job, and I have to say, I think they may have my favorite crust in the city. It's thin, but not too thin, but not quite as thick as a traditional NY slice, and the cornmeal on the crust makes it soooo incredibly yummy. I also tried the Blackened Catfish Po'Boy and was pretty thrilled with it. In general I love Po'boys, so I decided to order it even though I'm not a huge fan of catfish*. The catfish filet was breaded and fried, but definitely still moist when you bit into it. The spices used in the breading of the cat fish were CRAZY spicy. I love spicy, and this sandwich was almost too spicy for me, and that made my mouth really happy. I never ever eat the coleslaw, but I dug into this one because my mouth was on fire, and the coolness the coleslaw provided was much appreciated. It was pretty darn good coleslaw too, not too much mayo. I love Too Boots pizza but I had never been to the original location. After having a few drinks in east village my fiancé wanted a slice and I noticed Too Boots was nearby. I am so happy that I stopped in this cute pizzeria today that has some of the best pizza I've had in a long time. I got a slice called the CBGB and it was the perfect combination of cheese and chicken and broccoli and basil, it was so delicious . They have a very large selection of pizzas including vegan options which I thought was amazing. It was a little busy with a crowd of school kids it looked like but the lady behind the counter I must say, I was very impressed.
