I found Unreal Poke on IG and on a whim because I've craved Hawaiian style poke so much. I missed the pop-up drop a couple times but I managed to order pick up when I was in town! I ordered the Poke Flight just to try it out. There's shoyu ahi, spicy ahi, and ahi california roll. I think my top favorites are the shoyu and spicy ahi. This place is pretty up there though and the flavors and freshness of the fish are amazing! Also the dish itself had such great presentation, I dug in immediately. It hit the spot for their take on Hawaiian poke! I would definitely want to try their poke bombs next. read more

I was browsing Yelp for poke spots and came across a place with five stars. After reading the reviews, I found out it's a pop-up. I checked their Instagram and saw that today was their last day, so I decided to make the trip. I've only had poke once before in Taiwan, and it was a joke . My favorite is still Poke Express in Las Vegas, but this place comes pretty close. I just follow a GPS and the address . However, there was no sign outside . There was street parking available, and since it was Sunday, finding a spot wasn't an issue. I hadn't had poke in a very long time . This time, when I got home and started eating, it brought back memories of how much I used to love it. The fish quality was excellent, and the flavor was just as I remembered. Picked up garlic crunch ahi and it was delicious! Ordered online to pickup at the burger place in downtown el monte. Pretty smooth transaction. The flavor is spot on. Price is high for my budget, as I don't regularly eat raw fish, but this will be on my rotation. read more

Mannn this place is good. I feel super lucky Unreal Poke has set up shop here. Real poke real good flavors, not that poke salad bar stuff. Before this place I was driving out to South Bay for my poke fix. Their spicy poke is my favorite. I haven't gotten to try their salmon yet but I would like to. If you can, pre order because they sell out - cause it's bomb! The fish has always tasted fresh. Sometimes there are slightttly chewy pieces but lately it's been spot on and hitting!! Looking forward to the next Thursday poke drop. read more

Saw this from a facebook ad I think it was. Decided to order it because Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp plates are not very common in the SGV area. Just ate this almost an hour ago. It was fantastic. The shrimp were big. Six, fat, juicy, freshly fried pieces. The shrimp were fresh and tender, the meat was almost lobster tail-like. It was perfectly salted and flavorful. I ate it with the skin on, and the legs were crunchy and the shell was cooked well. The only part that is a little tougher to eat is the tail. Garlic pieces were crunchy and permeated all of the shrimp. Definitely one of the the best Hawaiian garlic shrimps I've had in the area. 9/10 The poke was great too, I had the spicy and shoyu tuna. It was tender, soft, and tasted fresh on the bed of salad. 8/10 I don't remember having the option of choosing a mac salad, but I feel like the refreshing nature of mac salad would've paired perfectly with the garlic-heavy entree. I also wish that the lemon slice they gave me was bigger. It was a sliver, and I got three drops out of it. The spicy tuna inari I had too was great. I ate this when I got home just now. 8/10 The price definitely felt more on the expensive side, but you are also getting big fat shrimps and fresh poke. After eating it, I can see you're paying for both quantity and quality. And they made it to order right on time. 7.5/10 They are a pop-up once a week at this hamburger restaurant in El Monte. It's not a sit-down restaurant. The owner who runs it Jordan is a super nice guy, I believe he said he is from Hawaii, and he has a strong vision for how he wants his food and business to be. Man, I just cannot say enough about this place. The food is legit unreal. The taste of the fish is unbelievably fresh and flavor is so deeply infused, you'll just drool looking at it. Unlike most other poke places that add sauce after you choose a protein, this place marinades there for at least a few hours so you'll get a really deep burst of flavor in each bite. The food here really reminded me of the super fresh poke you can pick up from the deli counters in Hawaii. We got all four flavors which were shoyu tuna and salmon as well as the spicy tuna and salmon. Each was amazing, but my personal favorite was the shoyu tuna. Note that this a pop-up spot and not something that's open everyday. Usually they operate out of a burger kitchen, but do go to other events as well. I wasn't able to pre-order but got there about 10 min after opening and was able to get what I wanted as a walk in. Imran was working and was super friendly and chill. Really represented the business well. I will 100% be back and hoping you all open your own spot! read more

You name your business boldly like this, you better deliver. They definitely do! If you love Foodland poke, this place will bring back those fond memories authentic Hawaiian Poke. Heard about this place from a friend and decided to give it a try when they were doing pick ups in El Monte. I wanted to get this during lunch but it was all sold out so I decided to order for dinner. I ordered a poke flight and added a side of spicy salmon poke. The poke flight came with 3 different flavors of ahi tuna, rice, salad, and crab salad. It was really close to the poke I had in Hawaii. Everything was so fresh. My favorite was the spicy salmon and the shoyu tuna. Workers were friendly and I didn't have a hard time finding parking. If you want real poké this is the spot! I'm from Hawai'i and this spot reminds me of home. I'm very picky about where I eat poké but I already knew it was gonna be good after the first bite. The poke truly is unreal! I originally was going to order poke from a different place, but I stumbled upon the Yelp page and saw they were going to be in El Monte the next day. So naturally I pushed back my poke craving for a day so I could try this. It was so worth it! My boyfriend got the hawaiian garlic shrimp and I got the poke flight. It's a little bit on the pricier side but the food more than makes up for it. We normally drive to San Diego for good Hawaiian poke so I'm so glad that theres a more local option! So happy I stumbled upon this gem and I can't wait till they come back again! Also please bring back the garlic shrimp! It absolutely stole the show. read more

This review is strictly for the poke nachos at the Chinatown After Dark Dodgers Opening Day event. This is a dish I have been craving for almost 2 years. Aside from having it in the 808, the best one I've had in the mainland is in Las Vegas, which I still think about all the time. I got my poke nachos and at first glance, I was excited thinking I was gonna tear it up! The shoyu and spicy poke were had good flavors but the dish as a whole, I realized I was hella duped. For the price of $30, the portion of the poke was dismal and the wonton chips could use some help as they broke easily as you scoop up some fish. Please reconsider doing another R & D to work on a better brand of wonton chips and portions. I love to support small up and coming businesses but $30 for what you gave me that day did not reflect that. read more

I've been eyeing Unreal Poke for some time now but since they're mainly a pop up, the stars needed to align in order for me to be able to try it. The day finally came when it worked out and I promptly ordered three pounds. One pound each of the ginger, shoyu, and spicy poke. The pictures always looked great but we were finally able to confirm that the hype was, contrary to their name, 100% REAL. We are frequent visitors to Hawaii and always load up on poke while we're there because nothing here could compare. Unreal Poke finally bridges that gap and delivers Hawaiian-style (& quality) poke to the SGV. Jordan, the head honcho, deftly balances out the flavors and ingredients so that they don't overwhelm the fish like most places here do (probably to cover up their lack of quality fish). He proudly puts the ahi front and center and makes sure its freshness shines. It's a beautiful thing, all served with island hospitality and vibes. Mahalo Jordan! read more

Meet the Business Owner: Jordan M.

I'm JMKM, and this is Unreal Poke. A Big Island native with a mix of Hawaiian, Puerto Rican, and Japanese heritage, my culinary journey began in Hilo during my early years as a child. Since 2015, I've been deeply involved in the culinary industry, working alongside esteemed establishments like East Los Musubi and Poke Party. However, the roots of my culinary passion trace back to the small kid hanabata days in Hilo. I owe much of my taste for Japanese creations to my mother, who imparted numerous recipes and techniques at a very young age. These teachings still influence the crafting of my signature poke sauces today. My grandmother, Julia, known as Hilo's renowned "Pastele Lady," was the city's number one Pastele maker. She catered Puerto Rican food across the island and sold her creations from her home for as long as I can remember. Her DIY attitude and love for sharing culture through food are key inspirations behind the inception of Unreal Poke.

Portions were incredibly generous, and the fish-to-rice ratio was exactly what every poke bowl should be. **Large Spicy Ahi & Garlic Crunch Ahi Bowl: 5/5** This bowl was filled to the brim with an impressive amount of fresh ahi, with just enough rice to let the fish remain the star of every bite. The Spicy Ahi featured a rich, creamy spicy mayo that paired perfectly with a sweet-savory drizzle of unagi sauce, while vibrant tobiko added delicate bursts of brininess. It wasn't dark outside yet and so the restaurant was still bright, but once the sun settled down the restaurant got really dark and neon lights started to hit hard! It was like a night in the streets scene. Very cool but also hard to see food sometimes. We ordered a large boneless chicken (sweet chili and Korean spicy, mild), tteokbokki, bulgolgi and rice, and a side of fries. I would say that mild is really mild, definitely better for me because I cannot stand spicy but my table wanted spicy but I thought I can do mild and yes it was delicious and sweet chili was not spicy at all! Lorena spicy had a kick so I did try it but can't have much. We asked for gloves to help us eat them with our hands! The bulgolgi was the star, I think everyone liked it including my son who ate so much of it! Fries were crispy and soft, I thought they were great. My son didn't eat much of it but it's because he ate a lot of the bulgolgi. Tteokbokki was just as spicy, I had a taste and flavor was good but too spicy for me. Staff came to clean up as we finished eating and checked on us very often. Restrooms are individual and gendered, it does form a line sometimes. Overall, great staff, food, and overall vibe!

Onto the onigiris, they are massive! One had me stuffed for lunch! The onigiri packaging is nicely wrapped to keep the crispiness and there a little indent for the sauce container on top. Their wasabi aioli was delicious! What is also great about this is the stuffing is actually stuffed so the ratio to filling ratio is very good. The rice was cooked nicely and I liked the two types of rice used, white and purple. I also liked the creamy wasabi sauce that you can pour onto the onigiris. Of the two, my favorite was definitely the Blue Crab. It was creamy and seemed to be made with real and tasty crab meat which I liked. The packaging for the onigiris was also super cute. I liked how the street vendor handed us umbrellas to wait under while we waited our turn to order. He was also personable and engaged each customer in conversations. He seemed generally interested in where each person was coming from to try the onigiris. There's no place to sit at as this is more of a grab n go type of spot.
